Potential reality check

It could be a match made in heaven.  Like Kennedy and Johnson, Obama and Clinton could unite youthful enthusiasm and promise with senatorial and political savvy.  But would it work?

Well, this editorialist, at least, thinks that during a general election the two would be unstoppable.  Bought into the hype?  No.  Just looking at the reality of the voting blocs that have united behind these two, and, to be honest, the real anger that could result in droves of Democratic voters staying away from the polls or – gasp – voting for McCain instead if their favorite is not on the ticket.  The two together, however, would bring out all.  Therefore, it seems clear that for an election, at least, these two would be the best ticket.

But what about when the two are supposed to work together?  That is the challenge.  It could be like Kennedy and Johnson, who were forced together by necessity but came to appreciate each other and became a strong working team.  Could Obama and Clinton do so?  Who knows — and is any potential trouble for those 4 (or 8) years worth the benefit the two would get (from each other) from winning the campaign?  That is the decision Sen. Obama must make.
