I can’t wait. It’s right around the corner. I have been making a bracket since I was 5 years old. Granted, I have rarely been as good as I was when I was just picking funny sounding schools back then. Or when I picked UMass to win with Marcus Camby even though my family and friends told me it was a ridiculous pick.
Since I went to college I haven’t had nearly enough time to follow the game as a whole like I did before. Sure, I know a lot more about a few schools, UVa in particular, and have a good sense of the ACC and a few other teams I have some connection with (ie. my in-laws and Kansas and former roomies with Kentucky).
But overall, I can’t follow the season as a whole like I did before. My picks are so bad now.
On a sidenote, UVa beat #13 Boston College last night. The Cavs have had a decidedly surprising season and are beating everyone’s expectations. Leitao has them playing as a team, hustling on defense, and hitting the boards. He has made them into a positive force, a team that works together and plays hard. I am really excited about the future of this program, particularly with the John Paul Jones Arena opening up this fall.
Who knows? They might make some noise at the end of this year…
